Frohe Weihnachten!
Ich glaube, ich habe den letzten Beitrag vom 26.11.2024 verpasst; ich glaube nicht, dass wir Fehlercodes bekommen haben, sonst hätte ich sie erwähnt, der Bildschirm war leer. Mein Mazda-Händler hatte niemanden mit wirklichem Wissen und war nicht an einem 30 Jahre alten Auto interessiert. Ich bin jetzt davon überzeugt, dass mein Mechaniker nicht die ECU umgangen hat, sondern deren Stromquelle, was er nicht klargestellt hat!
Aber es gibt gute Neuigkeiten: Unser Xedos ist wieder zu Hause und fährt genauso gut wie vor dem Defekt, wenn er einmal kalt gestartet ist. Mein Mechaniker arbeitete weiter am Nockenriemen und zeigte mir, dass die Nocken stark vertaktet waren und sich im Riemenbereich schwarze Plastikreste und Feststoffe befanden. Es sieht so aus, als ob ein Stück Plastik abgebrochen und in den Riemen geraten wäre, der dann über das Kurbelwellenrad gerutscht und zerfetzt wurde. Also hat er ihn gereinigt und ein Reparaturset inklusive der Umlenkräder eingebaut, einige andere Teile restauriert und ihn mit einer neuen Abdeckung versiegelt, und er sprang an, ohne dass eine neue ECU nötig war!
Ich werde versuchen, die beiden ECUs, die ich gekauft habe, an die Lieferanten zurückzugeben, natürlich nicht gegen volle Rückerstattung, es sei denn, jemand in Ihrem Forum möchte mir ein Angebot machen. Es gibt eines für die frühen Xedos und das andere für den späteren Typ.
Vielen Dank für Ihre Hilfe und Anleitung während dieser Saga (die uns mehr gekostet hat, als wir 2016 für das Auto bezahlt haben) und ich hoffe, wir müssen Sie nicht noch einmal belästigen; es ist schade, dass es hier nicht eine ähnliche Begeisterung für ein Forum gibt.
Mein Alltagsauto ist ein Lotus Elan von 1964, den ich 1969 gekauft habe und den ich, so gut ich kann, selbst instand halte. Ein ähnliches Modell wurde kürzlich in Einzelteilen für fast 30.000 Euro versteigert. Nach 50.000 Euro für den Wiederaufbau wurde es wieder für etwa 40.000 Euro verkauft! Unser Auto ist schmuddelig, wird aber ständig benutzt, aber jetzt muss ich seinen Versicherungswert erhöhen; Die Gesamtlaufleistung beträgt 296.000 (476.000 km), davon gehört fast alles uns, und Anne hat darin sogar Autofahren gelernt!

I think I missed the last post 26/11/2024; I don't think we got error codes or I would have mentioned them, the screen was blank. My Mazda dealer didn't have anyone with real knowledge and wasn't interested in a 30 year old car. I now believe my mechanic did not bypass the ECU but bypassed its power source, which he did not make clear!
But it's good news: Our Xedos is back home and drives as well as it did before the failure, once it has started from cold. My mechanic continued to work on the cam belt and showed me that the cams were badly out of time and there was black plastic debris and bits of solid in the belt area. It looks as though a bit of plastic broke off and got inside the belt which then slipped over the crankshaft sprocket and was shredded. So he cleaned it up and fitted a repair kit including the idler wheels, restored some other parts and sealed it with a new cover and it started without needing a new ECU!
I will try to return the two ECUs I bought to the suppliers, obviously not for a full refund, unless someone on your forum would like to make me an offer. There is one for the early Xedos and the other for the later type.
Thank you for your help and guidance during this saga (which cost us more than we paid for the car in 2016) and I hope we don't need to trouble you again; it's a pity there isn't similar enthusiasm for a forum here.

Ours is scruffy but is in constant use but now I will have to increase its insured value; its total mileage is 296,000 (476,000 km), nearly all of it ours, and Anne even learnt to drive in it!
