Hello! I would like to change my engine 1995 Xedos 6 2.0 v6 to 2.5l. Is it just to change or do i need do anything special?? Will the mx-6 2.5 kl-ze fit?? Do i need to change the ecu? Swap to KLZE is tricky, wiring is different. The KLZE has no EGR.
Easyer is the KLDE from X9 and it makes more sense. KLDE block with KL31 camshafts and the straight short intake manifold from ZE. Stable power around 170-180hp. Wiring and ECU could be the same in this configuration. |
A popular and often made modification is an engine swap to the standard european KL from 626 GE, MX-6 GE6, Xedos 9 or Ford Probe II. It's completely plug 'n play when keeping original gearbox, ECU, intake system with its mass air flow sensor, throttle flap, intake manifold and all other components from Xedos 6 - except motor/engine/cylinder block.
If doing so check if your original engine has a knock sensor - if it has a knock sensor you need a KL which has a knock sensor too. But as far as I remember all KL's have knock sensors. If using another intake system with the different MAF/MAP sensor you will need the compatible ECU. But it depends on the intake manifold if it fits or if you run in trouble with insufficient space... |

How exactly do you need it? I don't know what I could say more than "standard european KL from 626 GE, MX-6 GE6, Xedos 9 or Ford Probe II". Just the KL (or often named as KL-DE) originally fitted to 626, MX-6, Xedos oder Probe... :think:

I have one i could buy in sweden used from mx6 1992 2.5l manual. Mine is 1995 (version2) automatic. Could it be any problems? So plug and play. I can use my databox ecu? :) |
Take that MX-6, take its engine, remove anything except from motor block up to cylinder heads and valve covers and use any other original part from your Xedos 6. Mount that into car body, plug in all that connectors wherever they were and you've finished. Enjoy that torque and forget the existence of all that KF-parts on your new KL.
Anything else is much much more complex... |

And that i have second version is not a problem? Automatic wheel from my to the kl engine( manual gear) ? Intake manifold, startengine, steering cylinder from KF works with KL? distributor cap is the same on 2.5 and will work? Any more info thats important before i do this project? Thanx!!! ;) |
My car i automatic but can i use a engine KL-DE only with manual gear if the switch the wheel?
